George Sperryn Esq
We the workpeople of Messrs John Russell and Co Limited
Belmont Chandelier Works Birmingham, ask you to accept this
Address as a small token of the high esteem in which you are
held by us and our appreciation of the way in which you have
acted as Manager for a period of ten years. We regret
deeply that this relationship of so long standing should
be suddenly brought to a close. This momento though of small in-
trinsic value may yet assure you of the sincere regard in which you
are held by us all. We have always found you most honourable and
impartial in the discharge of the onerous duties you have been called on
to fulfil, while you have been guided by that sense of justice which should
govern all relations between man and man.
You have ever been ready to co-operate with and assist us in any
benevolent cause which was for our improvement and well being. We
recognise with gratitude the important part you took in the foundation of the
Belmont Mutual Benefit and Sick Society, and the warm interest shown in
its progress. As its Treasurer we much regret losing your able counsel and
ready help which has at all times been thoroughly appreciated. We thank
you heartily for the thoughtful care you have always manifested in our
welfare, for the sympathy shown in cases of affliction overtaking our fellow
workpeople, and for your earnest and heartfelt devotion to the cause of
assisting in any cases of distress or disaster.
In conclusion we pray that Almighty God will be with you in your new
sphere of life. But that His blessings may be showered upon you and your
dear family. These are the sincere wishes of us all.
